Changelings
Within European folklore, a "changeling" is a fairy child who was swapped with a human infant by their fey parents. There is evidence that real world historical changelings were actually human children with developmental disabilities (general autism and ADHD). Because of this, many in the modern day neurodivergent community have embraced the idea of being a "changeling."
Change(l)ing(s) wishes to interact with the metaphor of the changeling, though it expands the metaphor to encompass any marginalized group. Within Change(l)ing(s), a changeling could be a person who feels or is treated as innately different than the rest of the world, or they could be someone with supernatural abilities and with noticeably inhuman physical traits.

About
Change(l)ing(s) wishes to highlight the divergent, outcast, and generally undervalued by placing stories of their struggles in a single fantastical world. Change(l)ing(s) focuses on fiction, creative non-fiction, and autofiction short stories of those who are seen as or feel less than human, generally in the urban fantasy and/or urban horror genres. Change(l)ing(s) encourages stories of and by the neurodivergent, sexuality/gender non-conforming, the culturally outcasted, and anyone else who would be considered “odd” or "weird" to society, though Change(l)ing(s) encourages those outside or on the fringes of these demographics to engage in the discussion, either by reading the literature, or submitting to be featured.
By placing the real struggles of these people in a fantastical world, Change(l)ing(s) hopes to encourage discussions of the topics presented within by providing enough separation between the real pain of those actually outcasted and the fictional pain of the characters within to allow for meaningful consideration, and to not bloat the stories with the suffering of marginalized peoples, but rather the suffering of those with supernatural abilities.
